Guatemalan authorities say at least seven people have been killed in a clash between riot police and landless farm workers who were resisting efforts to evict them from a southern Guatemala farm.
Officials say the incident happened Tuesday when police were sent to the farm to remove the peasants. Officials also say some of the peasants used automatic weapons to fire on police.
The Reuters news agency says the peasants occupied the ranch last year to protest the kidnapping of a ranch hand, allegedly by the farm's owners.
